Services and mod interop

Status: Planned. Services: typed interfaces one mod provides and others call, described in .clidl files. Nothing on this page is in the API yet; the names in the final API may differ.

What this will cover

This page will document services (a mod provides an interface, other mods look it up and call it, in any language), standard services (permissions, economy), and the .clidl interface files that describe them (the manifest’s provides and services fields and the package’s api/ folder are reserved for this).

What you can do today

  • depends, optional and breaks in the manifest, and cl_mod_is_loaded("other_mod") at run time (Versioning and dependencies).
  • Mods share the same events, registries and command tree, so one mod can react to another’s blocks and items.
  • Payload channels connect a mod’s client and server halves (Networking).
