Questions
Short answers about Celestial Client. Something missing? Ask on the support page.
What is Celestial Client?
Celestial Client is a Minecraft: Java Edition client written from scratch in C++ with a Vulkan renderer. It plays the newest Java Edition, works with your worlds, servers, resource packs and shader packs, and runs mods written in Lua, C or C++ in a sandbox.
Is Celestial Client free?
Yes. Celestial Client and its launcher are free. You need your own Minecraft: Java Edition account to play.
Can I download it now?
Celestial Client is in a closed beta. Testers are added by hand; create an account on this site to join the list, and you get an email when your account has access.
Which Minecraft version does it play?
The newest Minecraft: Java Edition release. The launcher updates Celestial and the game for you.
Does it work on servers?
Yes. Gameplay and network packets match vanilla Java Edition, so it joins servers like the official game. Client features never give gameplay advantages.
Which operating systems are supported?
Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). macOS and Linux versions are coming soon.
Do I need a powerful PC?
No. Celestial needs a GPU with Vulkan 1.2, and integrated graphics such as Intel HD Graphics 500 series are supported. See the system requirements for the full list.
How much faster is it than vanilla?
Measured results are coming. We'll publish benchmark numbers once they are measured on real hardware, and not before.
Can I use Fabric or Forge mods?
No. Celestial is a separate client, not a mod loader for the official game. Its mods use the CLight API and are written in Lua, C or C++.
Are mods safe?
Every mod runs in a sandbox without native code and only gets the permissions it declares. Files listed on this site are scanned and reviewed before they appear.
Do my resource packs and shader packs work?
Yes. Resource packs and shader packs load without conversion.
Is Celestial Client made by Mojang?
No. Celestial Client is not an official Minecraft product and is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft.
